The Human Resources Navigator will serve as a vital link between employees and UCSF HR, providing guidance, support, and resources to enhance their overall experience within the department. This role is akin to a patient navigator in healthcare, focusing on assisting employees through the complexities of HR policies, procedures, benefits, and career development. The HR Navigator plays a critical role in ensuring that employees feel valued, supported, and empowered, contributing to their professional growth and the overall success of the organization.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however, a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
The Department of Neurology is a teaching, research, and clinical care unit within the School of Medicine (SOM). The Department of Neurology is a large, multi-site department, with locations including Mission Bay, Parnassus, Mt. Zion, ZSFG, VAMC, and the Gladstone Institutes and is affiliated with the UCSF Weill Institute for Neurosciences. The department is constructed of 16 administrative divisions with 11 clinical specialties. The department has over 373 faculty and academic employees, 420 staff positions, and 192 trainees including residents (51), clinical fellows (52), and postdoctoral scholars (89)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or four years of relevant experience.
- Three or more years of applicable experience
- Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
- Knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
- MS Office Advanced User: Word, Excel & PowerPoint
- Must be able to work onsite at our Mission Bay San Francisco work location when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols, and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management.
- Expertise in HRIS systems such as PeopleConnect Management Actions (PCMA), Hitachi and Smartsheet.
