Job Description

The Notre Dame Poverty Initiative is looking for a mission-driven leader who desires to be part of solving one of the most critical issues our nation faces today–poverty. The Associate Director will be responsible for directing essential functions to support the Poverty Initiative’s work and team.

The Associate Director is a critical leader for the success of the work of the Poverty Initiative. This position is responsible for ensuring strong operations for the Poverty Initiative to grow and build from, in order to achieve its vision of establishing the University of Notre Dame as a leading institution for poverty research, illuminating proven pathways out of poverty for people around the world.

We are looking for a social-minded leader with experience and knowledge in building and leading teams. This leader also needs background skills and experience in creating and maintaining organizational procedures such as financial management, budgeting, personnel management, communications, and reporting to key stakeholders. We are looking for someone who wants to change the face of poverty in our country and believes that impacting poverty is possible.

The Associate Director of the Poverty Initiative’s top priorities will be:

  1. Strategic Execution: Work collaboratively with the Director and Managing Director of the Poverty Initiative to capture the vision and strategic priorities of the Initiative and drive forward the execution of the Poverty Initiative within the team.
  2. Lead and Manage the Poverty Initiative Team: Lead, manage, and hold accountable the Poverty Initiative Team. Lead EOS operational excellence for the Poverty Initiative, including L10 meetings, annual planning, quarterly pulse content, core process, and policies and procedures. Drive implementation of the operations and strategic priorities of the Poverty Initiative through finance and investment management, convenings and events, investment curation, internal and external communications, and projects related to the Poverty Initiative’s success.
  3. Own Budgeting + Financial Reporting: Manage the budget for the Poverty Initiative. Consolidate funds into comprehensive financial reports for varied constituents on a quarterly and annual basis. Manage the Poverty Initiative’s internal financial analysis, including determining and communicating financial requirements and trends.
  4. Evaluation of Impact of Investments: Evaluate the strategic progress on the Poverty Initiative’s efforts. Facilitate feedback meetings for the Director and Managing Director for units receiving resources from the Poverty Initiative.
  5. Curation of Strategic Opportunities: Support the curation of opportunities for the Poverty Initiative and the management of those opportunities, both internal and external of the Initiative team
Please note: This is a five-year, limited-term position. Contingent on funding, the position may be extended.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of related work experience.

  • Extensive experience or demonstrated ability to create and maintain organizational procedures such as financial management, budgeting, personnel management, communications, and reporting to key stakeholders
  • Management and leadership experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proven ability to set priorities and map direction on concurrent fronts, for both self and direct reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred:
  • Master’s degree or advanced certification
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, including 3-5 years of management
