Position Summary
The TRIO Student Success Coach serves as a member of the comprehensive advising team at Blue Mountain Community College providing guidance and support to degree or certificate seeking students participating in programs of study in Career Technical Education, College Preparatory and General Education/Transfer. A Success Coach meets with students individually and in groups to provide developmental, intrusive and career advising. Responsibilities include development and implementation of student support resources intended to promote persistence, progression, completion, transfer, and employment.
This position maybe a standing member of the BMCC Advising Steering Committee comprised of both Faculty Advisors and Navigators and is expected to contribute to the development, implementation and continuation of a comprehensive advising model with explicit purpose, goals and intended outcomes.
This position is expected to perform all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in the BMCC Vision and Strategic Plan. This position is expected to perform consistently within a team-based model and actively participates as a member of assigned college teams and committees and conforms to the college’s guiding principles.
Essential Functions
Serves as an instructional program liaison as assigned by the Director of TRIO/Student Support Services. Provides program promotion activity, develops and maintains working relationships with community partners and works with faculty advisors within the assigned instructional program.
Assists in the planning and execution of assigned grant activities and student services. Acts as liaison between grant program and partner organizations; as well as communicating with students on a consistent basis to ensure active participation and adherence to program guidelines and assists with the maintenance of records and reporting of grant deliverables.
Intentionally and proactively works with students to determine academic and career goals, assuring program of study progression and goal completion.
Develops, coordinates and integrates resources and initiatives that promote and enhance student success. This includes but is not limited to advising, educational planning worksheets, early alert systems, new student orientation/experience and first year/generation programming.
Contributes to the development, design and execution of student workshops, seminars, and events for students, staff, faculty, and the general public.
Promotes innovative and best practice technology, policies and procedures that result in improving program effectiveness. This includes career services, transfer center, veterans support services technology and tools, schedule planning software, advising appointment tools, early alert protocols.
Contributes to the development of program goals and measurement criteria.
Provides the Director with the information necessary for assessment, strategic planning, and continuous improvement purposes.
Develop partnerships with baccalaureate institutions to improve project participant transfer rates.
Tracks, analyzes, documents, and reports retention and follow-up data on project participants to the Director.
Plans, organizes, and communicates with participants about workshops, seminars, and campus activities, and accompany students on educational field trips and college visitations.
Apply and adhere to the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Oversees and curates content for the program’s social media channels to provide a comprehensive overview of TRIO services, engage participants, and enhance program visibility across multiple platforms.Conduct intake appointments with incoming students into the program to ensure clear expectations and services of the project.
Conduct and review individualized learning styles ;for incoming students and provide practical study strategies.
Responsible for monitoring and recording the academic progress of program participants on a weekly basis through college data systems. Provides individualized follow-up, academic advising, and referrals as needed to support students in achieving academic success and maintaining good standing.
Schedule and conduct monthly check-ins with program participants to ensure student retention and persistence throughout the project.
Provides academic tutoring to program participants through scheduled appointments and drop-in sessions. Assist students with course assignments, reinforces subject matter understanding, and supports development of effective study strategies."

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or related field and two (2) years of related experience.

Higher Education experience, preferably at a community college.
Demonstrated ability to overcome barriers like those encountered by the target population.
Experience working with TRIO programs or programs serving similar populations is preferred.

This is a part time position up to 25 hours per week as needed. Part time employees earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked.
