Work Shift: (40 hrs.) Days, Evenings, Nights, Flexible Shifts, M-S, some weekends may be required

CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Nursing Assistant assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Additionally, the incumbent assists with personal hygiene, takes vital signs, and changes bed linens. The Nursing Assistant also serves and collects food trays, provides for in-between meal nourishment, and cleans, sterilizes, stores, and prepares other supplies.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Provides safe transportation of patients from their rooms to various areas of the hospital.
2. Ensures patient safety by verifying the patient identification band, chart and sending slip.
3. Assists patients to and from the stretcher.
4. Assists nursing personnel with patient positioning and patient skin preps.
5. Cleans and prepares surgical suite and disinfects stretchers in-between patients.
6. Supports the supply needs of the department by receiving supplies and restocking all areas.
7. Maintains the cleanliness of the surgical suite and cleans the operating rooms at the end of the day’s schedule.
8. Empties all trash s, suction canister boxes, and replaces bags and boxes, periodically throughout the day.
9. Maintains attendant’s supply room with needed solutions for cleaning, maintenance of floors, polishing glass, and cleanliness of counters and walls.
10. Maintains inventory of wet vacuum hoses, floor tools, and brushes.
11. Mops the floor between surgical procedures.
12. Cleans patient pantry and dining area and empties trash.
13. Returns equipment to the storage room and keeps the room orderly.
14. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent/relevant experience, certification or license
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience required
Certification and Licensing:
Refer to department description for applicable certification requirements

Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
